What is a Children's Centre?
Children’s Centres provide information and services for families with young children aged 0-5 years, and aim to build on good existing services rather than starting new ones where it’s not necessary.
By visiting Windmill Children’s Centre, you will receive support and help in finding childcare, family support, health services and even employment advice. If you are looking for day care as a working parent, the centre will be able to give you information about the options for you and your child.
Windmill Children’s Centre is:
- An agency to support families, groups and organizations for under 5’s.
- The aim is to help you give your children the very best start in life.
- It can be hard to know what services are available or what they actually offer, the Children’s Centre will help with this and be a one-stop shop to find out what is about.
- It will also provide some services that are currently missing from your community. Finding out what you want and need will be vital to developing the services that will be offered.
- Support with training and links with Jobcentre Plus and health professionals will also be available.
To ensure the quality of services, all Children’s Centres had to be designated by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF). Windmill Children’s Centre has been formally designated as a Sure Start Centre. Hertfordshire visit all Hertfordshire Children's Centres three times a year to monitor progress. Ofsted now also inspect Children's Centres. Windmill Children's Centre is yet to be visited by Oftsed, but this could happen at any point.
All our policies are available for parents to see at Windmill Children's Centre. We can email policies to parents that request them.
If you have any suggestions about what you would like the Centre to offer, or comments on the services please get in touch.
