Hertford Toy Library

The toy library has been open since April 1986, and has capacity for a maximm of 100 families as members. It has proved so popular that membership is limited to families withing the Hertford area and surrounding villages, although we do make exceptions for children with special needs.

Opening Times

Monday mornings 9:30am-11:00pm

Membership Fee

£4.50 per family per year (payable in April). Rates are pro-rata, so if you join after April, the fee will be reduced. If you are receiving income support or your child has special needs you are not required to pay this fee. 

Ethos

You will not find any war toys on our shelves, no weapons, or anything that breeds violence. We do not have faddy toys such as collectables. We try to buy good quality toys that are often multifunctional and interest a wide age range.

Cost of Hiring

Toys may be borrowed at a cost of 50p each per fortnight. You may borrow 3 toys and 2 jigsaws per child. If you can't return a toy when it's due back, please let us know - otherwise late returns are charged at 20p per week per toy.

This is your Toy Library, and your attendance and support will keep it going. We are always looking for helpers to do everything from setting up and tidying away to becoming a committee member, helping with fundraising, etc. Please remember that the Toy Library is a charity, that we are all volunteers, and we need your help and input to maintain it!
