JOBCENTRE PLUS PHONE NUMBER HAS CHANGED

Jobcentres are currently being rolled out onto the national 0845 telephone number so that instead of over 700 individual jobcentre numbers, there will be one national number – 0845 604 3719.  The Jobcentre Plus website has also closed and has been replaced with the Directgov website, visit:
http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/index.htm  and type jobcentre plus in the search.

*SWINE FLU UPDATE*

Now that pupils are back at school for the autumn term, we are writing to share with
you our latest information about swine flu. Please read the flyer below for more information.

What to do if you think you have swine flu - if you or your child have flu-like symptoms such as a sudden fever, cough, a headache, sore throat, tiredness, aching muscles, sneezing, runny nose or loss of appetite you should contact the National Pandemic Flu Service on 0800 1 513 100 (open 8am until midnight every day) or via the website at www.direct.gov.uk/pandemicflu. Callers or online users of the National Pandemic Flu Service will be directed to consult with their GPs if they have other underlying health conditions or fall into an ‘at risk’ group. Please remember to notify the school if your child is diagnosed with swine flu and they must stay at home until they have recovered and are free of symptoms.

OAK TREE MINISTER VISIT!

minister

In May 2009 we had a special visit from Beverley Hughes MP, then Minister of State for Children, Young People and Families. Mrs Hughes stated that she found the visit very informative and added “The outstanding commitment and levels of work are palpable.  Our vision was always about changing the way mainstream services work and acting as a driver to help vulnerable families.  If we can make a difference to these children here today we are helping families in future generations to come.  Oak Tree Children’s Centre are pioneers for a much better future.”

OAK TREE CELEBRATES WITH 4 TONS OF OAK TREE

Oak Tree Children’s Centre has been awarded Full Core Offer status for a children’s centre as of 15th May 2009.

To commemorate this new status Oak Tree Children’s Centre have sidestepped the usual celebratory plaque and have commissioned a magnificent 4 ton oak tree trunk which has been intricately carved by hand.  It now takes pride of place in the garden which is used by the centre’s families and children, Squirrels Day Nursery and Ludwick Nursery school who all come under the Oak Tree Children’s Centre umbrella. This formal recognition is based on the centre offering Jobcentre links, child and family health services on site, active parental involvement, full family support services and activities and early years provision with qualified teacher support.

Karen James, Head of Oak Tree says ’The Oak Tree is a great way to mark the fantastic achievement of everyone at the children’s centre. The children love climbing on the tree trunk. It reminds us that the children will grow from acorns into oaks’
