Welcome to Oak Tree Children’s Centre website. Thank you for visiting us.
In July 2007 we were very proud to be designated as the first Phase 2 Children's Centre in Hertfordshire and the first Children’s Centre in Welwyn Garden City. We provide a wide range of services for children and families. Ludwick Nursery School is the lead agency for the children’s centre and works in partnership with our daycare partners, Squirrels, health services and many other agencies but most importantly the families in our local area.
The Centre provides high quality care, education and family support for children aged 0-5 that puts children and families at the heart of all its developments.
- At Ludwick Nursery School children enjoy exciting experiences where learning is fun. It provides an excellent educational start for children.
- Children can also benefit from a lunch club.
- Also on offer at Oak Tree Children’s Centre is full day care sessions (8am -6pm) 48 weeks of the year at Squirrels for children aged 0-5years within a warm and stimulating environment.
- We have a wonderful new building where family learning, parenting courses and advice is available, usually free or at low cost.
The Centre provides activities and services which aim to support and enhance family life. Whatever you want to know about for children 0-5 you will find here! We aim to provide a caring and secure environment where staff and carers work together to make life with young children happy and rewarding.
Parents who use the centre are delighted by what is on offer. Our motto is ‘Together we are building a better tomorrow’.
We look forward to welcoming you to Oak Tree Children’s Centre. Please contact us to find out more and we can arrange a visit. We hope that you will visit our website regularly to keep in touch and enjoy seeing our centre develop!

Buildings
Our main children’s centre building was completed in 2004 and houses the daycare, Squirrels, a large central dining/multi purpose space, a main kitchen, a meeting room and offices.
Ludwick Nursery School is the original building, with 2 large classrooms for to 3 -5 year old children, a family room, small kitchen and attractive, newly refurbished reception and offices. The garden joins these two buildings and is exciting and stimulating for young children.
In our recently completed building called The Acorns is The Green Room for health professionals, meetings and creche and the Garden Room which is used for group work, meetings and Toy Library. The Acorns is available to hire for training and meetings.
