About Us

Oak Tree Children’s Centre provides high quality care, education and family support for children aged 0-5 and puts children and families at the heart of all its developments.  We have wonderful facilities where family learning, parenting courses and advice are available, usually free or at low cost.
 
The Centre aims to provide a caring and secure environment where staff and parents work together to make life with young children happy and rewarding.  We try to support and enhance family life.  Whatever you want to know about children 0-5 you will find here!  Parents who use Oak Tree Children’s Centre are delighted by what is on offer.
 
We were very proud to achieve Full Core Offer status and we were also the first Phase 2 Children’s Centre in Hertfordshire and the first Sure Start Children’s Centre in Welwyn Garden City.  Our site is in Holwell Road and we have three main buildings:  Ludwick Nursery School, Squirrels Daycare and Oak Tree Children’s Centre.
 
Ludwick Nursery is the lead agency for Oak Tree Children’s Centre and works in partnership with many other services.  In September 2010 Ludwick Nursery was judged by Ofsted to be outstanding in all areas.  Our daycare partners Squirrels also judged as Outstanding in September 2010 provides high quality daycare at Oak Tree Children’s Centre.  Oak Tree was also the first Children’s Centre to be inspected by Ofsted and we were judged to be Good with Outstanding areas.
 
We also benefit greatly from having health services operating directly from the Children’s Centre, including a midwife, breastfeeding and health visitor drop-in service.  We work closely with many other agencies such as Jobcentre Plus.  However, for all of us at Oak Tree Children’s Centre, the most important partnership is with the families in our local area.
