Current Vacancies

Childcare, early years and playwork is so rewarding in so many ways and the smile on a child's face is one of the biggest rewards of all. This page shows some of the current vacancies in children’s centres across Hertfordshire.

Could you be a Shared Carer?

Shared Carers offer home-based short breaks to disabled children. They are approved and have the same status as foster carers and provide a valuable service for children with disabilities and their families. We have a vacancy for a person with caring experience to become a Shared Care Plus carer.
If you are interested in this post you will:

- Have experience of looking after or working with disabled children as a foster/shared carer, nurse, residential social worker, classroom assistant or similar
- Have a supportive family who are willing to be included in the assessment
- Have suitable accommodation for a disabled child including a spare room
- Be able to work in the evenings, at weekends and during school holidays
- Have good communication and listening skills

In return we pay a fee of £20,916 per year, plus expenses. We work a rota system with every alternate weekend off and time off in the week following a working weekend. We also offer paid annual leave and ongoing support and supervision. This opportunity is offered on a self-employed basis.

We are also looking for volunteer shared carers who can give a few hours or more each week to provide regular breaks for a child or young person with disabilities. As a shared carer you would provide care either in your own home or in the child's home (this is known as a sitting service). As a volunteer shared carer you would be paid expenses only.

For a full job description or an informal chat or if you are interested in either Shared Care or Shared Care Plus, please ring Theresa Jessey on 01438 843855, Terry Armsby on 01438 843852 or Sally Gibbs on 01438 843854.
