and anything else you think this community needs!
Most of the providers are already established in this area, and the Children’s Centre is happy to advertise what’s on during the day both here and in Hemel Hempstead. We have a brand new building which has a large entrance area packed with information and leaflets, so feel free to drop in and have a look. There is a small room that can be used for meetings or courses plus an office. We also have a toy library housed within the Children’s Centre and for an annual subscription plus a very small fee you can hire new toys and equipment. We even have buggies and travel cots etc for grandparents to borrow when their grandchildren visit.
What about older children?
We work very closely with the Gade Family Support Network who have a Parent Support Worker who links with families where there are older children up to the age of 19. For more information click here.
To ensure the quality of services offered, all Children’s Centres have to be designated by the Department for Children, Schools and Families(DCSF). Galley Hill was designated in February 2008 as a Sure Start Centre, and aims to ensure the best start for all children in the community. If you want to know more about Sure Start, visit their website www.surestart.gov.uk
There will be 81 Centres in Hertfordshire by 2010, and there are currently 6 in Dacorum. Details of the other centres can be found below.
