What is a Children's Centre?
Children’s Centres are being developed so that children aged 0-5 years and their families and carers can benefit from a range of professional services, activities and support, in a convenient location.
Some of the services will be at different venues, but normally within the local community.
A Children’s Centre is a ‘One Stop Shop’ for information, advice and services.
It provides:
- Stay and Play drop-in groups for parents/carers and grandparents
- Information about childcare services in the local area
- Information for Childminders
- Advice on Family Health from Health Visitors and other visiting professionals
- Positive Beginnings - a drop-in session twice a week for children aged 0-5 years and their carers, to experience positive play in a stimulating environment
- Advice and support from Jobcentre Plus
- Courses, training and family learning - something for everyone
- Support and advice for families and children with additional needs
