Here are details of all our regular activities, workshops, special events and support groups.

Priority for all our groups will be given to families with children between these ages who live in the mapped Bridge Road Children’s Centre area.

Regular Activities

Toy Library

Mondays 9.30 - 10.30am at Letchmore Infants' and Nursery School AND ALSO

Thursdays 10.00am - 12.00pm at Bridge Road Children's Centre

Baby clinic

Tuesdays 9.30 - 11.30am at Bridge Road Children's Centre

A drop-in session for parents and carers to have their child weighed.

These sessions are facilitated by the Health team, and a Health Visitor and Community Nursery Nurse will be available for advice and support during the session.

Starting Well

Tuesdays 10.30–11.30am at Bridge Road Children's Centre

Drop-in for advice on feeding your baby or child (including breastfeeding support). These groups are for parents and carers to gain access to current information and support when weaning their baby on to solid food.

We help parents and carers to overcome anxieties and concerns and share good practice, supporting the Start for Life campaign to give children a healthy start in life. This group follows the Baby led weaning guidelines from the Department of Health.

Bridge Road Childminder Network Group

Wednesdays (fortnightly) 9.30–11.00am at Bridge Road Children's Centre - check calendar for dates

There is a charge of £1 per registered childminder to attend.

Rhyme time

Thursdays 10.00 - 10.40am at Bridge Road Children's Centre.

A variety of songs and rhymes for you and your child to enjoy together which will help your child’s speech and language development. We hope you will also have fun!

Rhyme Time is aimed at children between 8 months and four years of age. Sessions are currently free but we operate a Contributions system so that we can keep the sessions well resourced.

You do not have to book in advance, but please note that numbers are limited and when the session is full we are not able to let anyone else in. Please ensure that you arrive in plenty of time to sign in and get ready as doors close once the session has begun.

If the 10am session is already full when you arrive, please come and enjoy some activities in the Children’s Centre until Toy Library starts at 11.00.

New Start

Fridays 10.00am - 12.00 at Bridge Road Children's Centre

Our group for parents-to-be and parents of babies aged 0-8 months. A weekly group providing an opportunity to meet other new parents and find out what is going on in the area for you and your baby. We invite speakers to the group so you can find out about childcare options, health matters and anything else you would like help with.

This is a drop-in group so don't worry if you can't get here for 10! Sessions are currently free but we operate a Contributions system so that we can keep the sessions well resourced.

Movers and Shakers

Friday 10.00am - 12.00 at Bridge Road Children's Centre

New Start follow-on group. This group is run by parents who have attended New Start and are ready to move on. It is aimed at babies from when they begin to get mobile until about 15 months. Sessions are currently free but we operate a Contributions system so that we can keep the sessions well resourced.

Young Parents

Friday 1.00pm - 3.00pm at Bridge Road Children's Centre

This is a group for parents aged up to 23 living in our Children's Centre area and their children under 5.

It meets on alternate Friday afternoons so please check the calendar for dates.

Workshops for parents/carers with children aged 0-4

Protective Behaviours

Protective Behaviours is a practical and down-to-earth approach to personal safety and developing self esteem. It is an approach that adults can use for themselves and with their children and can be used in day-to-day life. It helps people recognise and trust their feelings and develop strategies for self-protection and problem solving. There are limited crèche spaces available.

Had a baby in special care? Want to meet others who have too? A group of families meet monthly here at the children’s centre – activities are available for children aged 0-4. Just come along to the children's centre on the last Monday of each month.
