early support

Early Support provides information, guidance and resources for families or carers of disabled children and practitioners who work with them. Early Support is based on the principle that working together is the key to providing the best care and
support for disabled children.

Further information on Early Support together with materials and resources is available on the website http://www.education.gov.uk/childrenandyoungpeople/sen/early support

There is further information about Barleyfields Children's Centre's role as an Early Support Champion Children's Centre on the "What is a Children's Centre?" page of the website.

Barleyfields Children’s Centre covers a large semi-rural area of Hertfordshire which includes Knebworth, Old Knebworth, Woolmer Green and Oaklands.  Services are delivered from a range of venues across the area to ensure that they are accessible to local families.

The name of the Children’s Centre was chosen after consultation with local families and was whole-heartedly endorsed by the Pre-school Learning Alliance, the lead agency for the Children’s Centre, and the Partnership Group.  The name was suggested because it links the three villages which are surrounded by fields of barley.

The Children’s Centre is based at Woolmer Green Village Hall.  We run a range of services which are delivered from community venues across the Children's Centre area.

Barleyfields Children's Centre is a one-stop shop for information and support for families in Knebworth, Old Knebworth, Woolmer Green and Oaklands.  It is a Phase 3 Children's Centre which was designated as a Sure Start Children's Centre in September 2009 and reached full core offer in 2011.  We carry out ongoing consultation with local parents and the results of this consultation inform the direction that the Children's Centre takes and shape the services provided.

Working in partnership with the local communities of Knebworth, Woolmer Green and Oaklands to support families in building a brighter future.
